This Triptych piece was made in response to the Spanish Bull fighting festivals. I thought it would be interesting to reverse the role of the matador and the bull. This then gives the normal tradition of bull fighting a different prospective, similar to the Roman times when the gladiators would fight the helpless slaves. I was interested in using old theatrical bull fighting posters as backgrounds and built up the border with traditional wooden type. The names of the bull fighters are invented with the help of a knowledgable bullfighter friend of mine from Spain.

Mad dogs and Fish Progression were made to resemble repeat patterns. I wanted towork on a large scale so the images had a visual impact.

Mad Fish was made for fun, I feel he brings humor and a smile to your face with his big grin and sharp teeth.

The complete set is available for £1200 Different colour backgrounds are available I went on an exchange to Madrid and Barcelona for a month and this series of images shows a sequence of events which happened to me whilst I was there. I was also interested in the relationship between text and image so I used newspaper cuttings from the time I was there and collaged them into the image before screenprinting them onto different coloured backgrounds.
